I’m in a cafe in Madrid elaborating on a quick drawing while I hope to hear from some couch surfing hosts for the next week. From memory, this is the “camping car” I spent some time traveling in, parked at the end of the Spanish earth in Finnesterra, on a foggy morning, after finishing the Camino.
Memories, pick pocketed.
As soon as arriving in Madrid I check my leather backpack pocket for phone…. not there.
I have been taking photos with film as well, but nearly 1000 unpublished images from the camino are gone. Without instagram it would be more, so today I’m thankful to be an obsessive uploader. This marks the third image taking device that has bit the dust in the past two months, so I am choosing to take it as a sign that I need to paint and draw more and be more contemplative of the environments I experience instead of trying to quickly capture and possess.
Heading into Otañes where the trail heads inland around Saltacaballo. Plan on sleeping in near the Puerto de la Helguera pass
